THE FARM WILDSPAN is a fully functional game and sheep farm. This 7,500 hectares of Private Game Reserve, has been in the van Eck family since the 1890’s. We love to share this beautiful outspan of pristine nature with our guests
We have 13 game species occurring naturally on the farm from Steenbok, Grey Duiker, Springbok to Gemsbok, Kudu, Zebra, Eland. We encourage our guests to enjoy these great surroundings with all the activities we offer:
ACCOMMODATION AND FACILITIES: Our Hunters Cottage is a stone house built in the 1890’s. It has 4 bedrooms, two fire places, verandas and open-air camp fire. It has a beautiful view of the veld and old traditional stone farm yard.
The Olienhout Cottage is a traditional stone cottage with 3 bedrooms and built in barbeque / fire place. It has 1 full bathroom, verandah and outside barbeque / fire place. The cottage has a pleasant view over the sable breeding camp.
The Main Cape Dutch farm house was built in 1957 and is our main base camp. It accommodates 2 guests in an on suite double room with two single beds. It forms part of the main family home
ATTRACTIONS On the farm: Game viewing, night drives, guided hikes, informal hikes, bird watching and photography tours are available. Take a swim in our stone farm dams. Bring along your mountain bike or use one of ours for a trip through the game camp. Go on a guided sheep-, cattle-, or goat farm experience.
Day trips can include photographic trips to the Campbell Kloof, Khoi San Bushmen shelter with Stone Age tools and historical Campbell and township. We can arrange horseback trails flips over the farm. Book an African colonial safari dinner in the bush and at the end of a busy day watch the sun set and experience our tranquil wide open spaces. Gaze at our spectacular diamond studded African skies at night.
ATTRACTIONS In the Area: Consider an agricultural tour (bees, grapes, sheep, goats, cattle, sable antelope or irrigation farming). Take a gentle sundowner cruise down the Vaal River on a barge. Experience an ethnic tour through a township where the indigenous people of South Africa live and sample their traditional food or simply go on a traditional donkey cart trip through Campbell with your camera in hand.
