Experience the Northern Cape, South Africa

The flower season is drawing closer and the Northern Cape will be welcoming admirers and photographers from all corners of the globe.

The best time to view the flowers is from the second week of August until mid-September and what better way to experience this stunning phenomenon than to camp right amidst the flower fields? Chiefs Luxury Safari Tented Camps will set up campsites at the Skilpad Nature Reserve and Namaqualand National Park.

The Namaqua Flower Skilpad Camp, in the Skilpad Nature Reserve, is open from 11 August to 10 September 2017. There’s only 20 tents available and booking is essential. The tents are equipped with beds and duvets, LED lights, a private hot shower and a chemical-flush toilet, among other things.

Activities you can enjoy at the Skilpad Camp include daisy tripping through the flowers where visitors can cycle or walk through the flower fields and have a picnic basket packed for them. By night the region’s clear skies and vast expanse makes for memorable stargazing opportunities.

The Namaqua Flower Beach Camp, north of the Namaqualand National Park's Groenrivier entrance, will be open from 18 August to 17 September 2017 and offers the same facilities as the Skilpad Camp. Here visitors will enjoy live music entertainment after dinner, picnics and 4x4 rides to the Spoegrivier Caves and the Seal Colony.
