Named after the farm on which the Vanderkloof Dam is situated, the town was built to house people building the dam. Today it is a flourishing holiday resort. It boasts the highest dam wall in the country (108m) and links the Northern Cape to the Free State.

Activities

Damhuisie Information Centre

One of the original construction worker houses with exhibitions on the dam, nature conservation, ESKOM, Vanderkloof Holiday Resort and the town.

Eskom Hydroelectric Power Station

One of only two Hydro Power Stations in South Africa that generates electricity into the Eskom network. The station is situated within the dam wall and can be visited by appointment. Tel 053 664 0002.
