BUMPER EASTER WEEKEND IN THE DIAMOND CITY

The Northern Cape Tourism Authority has reported a bumper Easter weekend with thousands of visitors in the capital city of Kimberley over this period.

According to CEO Sharron Lewis, this can be subscribed to the number of quality events hosted in the city of the holiday period.  “The provincial government is always keen to support local events as this helps to increase tourism figures, which have a direct economic impact on the province.  The diversity of events appeals to different sections of the tourism market and serves as an additional drawing card for visitors.   Events were well attended, which led to fully booked accommodation facilities throughout the Diamond City over the weekend as well as capacity crowds in local restaurants and night spots,” mentions Lewis.

The Diamonds & Dorings music festival attracted over 5000 visitors, while more than 3000 visitors viewed the incredible spinning and drifting action at the Kimberley Easter Motorsport Festival.  The Big Hole museum complex, one of Kimberley’s iconic tourism destinations recorded over 1700 visitors.

The upcoming long weekend once again promises a fun-filled event schedule.  For more information, visit www.www.experiencenortherncape.com.
