It's time for !NABA Food and Wine Festival
All the roads lead to Upington for the annual! NABA Food and Wine Festival taking place from 4-6 August. Visitors attending the festival can expect to be treated to culinary delights, local and national wines, craft beers, liqueurs, and food related products, demonstrations and live entertainment to showcase the Green Kalahari as one of the world’s premier food and wine destinations.
The Green Kalahari Region of the Northern Cape contrasts rust-red soil with the green vines of the Orange River Wine Route. Delicious dried fruit is to be found in Kakamas, and in Upington chilly evenings draw hungry diners to the fireside for roosterkoek, venison potjies, roasted legs of lamb, and slow-cooked pens-en-pootjies (tripe and trotters) stew.
The highlights of the Kokerboom Food and Wine Route include the impressive Augrabies Falls, the relaxing hot springs at Riemvasmaak, river rafting, fly fishing, kayaking and river cruises on the mighty Orange River, numerous 4x4, hiking and mountain biking trails and excellent bird watching.
Commenting on the festival, the NCTA CEO says “The festival provides ample time to take Sho’tleft to explore the splendour of the contrasts of the Green Kalahari along the Kokerboom Food and Wine Route to the lush vineyards and award-winning wines and the majestic Augrabies Falls. Also engage with the locals to discover the hidden community tourism gems. Accommodation varies from family-oriented river camps and holiday resorts to luxury vineyard living,” mentioned Sharron Lewis.
“The destination definitely offers something for all market segments ranging from the more mature traveller to the Mzansi family, young fun seekers and adventure seekers. Whether you’re looking for the ultimate relaxation or adrenaline-pumping action, you have certainly come to the right province”, concludes CEO Sharron Lewis.
Parents attending the festival need not worry about leaving their kids at home, as the festival has a play area for kids with lots of entertainment lined up.
