Northern Cape: start planning for this year’s flower season

Winter rainfalls in the province of extremes are a promise – the raindrops mean the flowers will bloom in spring.

But the Northern Cape’s flower season, as it’s known, is no ordinary springtime blossom. From August to mid-September the province is transformed into a kaleidoscope of colours and is carpeted with wildflowers, making for spectacular viewing that attracts photographers and visitors from all corners of the globe.

Now would be a good time to start panning for the flower season, and here’s why ...
