The biggest buffalo ever to go on auction will be the centre of attention at the Mattanu Private Game Reserve, approximately 50km north-west of Kimberley, on 22 April 2017.

The Kriek Wildlife Group auction will be showcasing Bruce Little’s larger-than-life work of art – a double-life-sized bronze sculpture of a buffalo.

Little is a self-taught sculptor whose work has been exhibited locally and internationally. He was a conservationist and professional game ranger, and sculpted part-time as a hobby.

Five years ago he took the plunge and turned to sculpting full-time. The subject of his internationally renowned work remains the African wildlife, which he spent years observing as a game ranger.

The Million Dollar Buffalo, which Little describes as “a prime example of Africa’s majesty”, is not the first monumental sculpture he’s created – he was commissioned to create a majestic bronze lion sculpture for the 50th anniversary of the Longleat Safari and Adventure Park in the United Kingdom.

That sculpture was revealed in March last year – it is 4m high, 8m long and weighs five tonnes.
