Northern Cape Tourism Team Hits The Road
A team from the Northern Cape Tourism Authority will embark on an extensive provincial road show to meet with product owners and tourism role players in the various regions. The two-week trip will run from 4 – 18 February and the team will visit twenty-two towns to sign up tourism service providers to the province’s interactive website.
According to Dianna Martin, general manager: marketing and communications, digital communication has become a crucial aspect of the marketing mix. “Online and social media platforms have literally exploded over the past couple of years and have become an incredible marketing platform for us. To enable us to offer potential visitors a virtual overview of the province, the website needs to be current, interactive and informative and portray the Northern Cape Province in an appealing way. By being hands-on and visiting the various areas, we are ensuring a vibrant digital market presence that accurately reflects the ambience and offerings of the province,” mentions Martin.
The team will be meeting product owners in Colesberg, De Aar, Carnavon, Calvinia, Springbok, Port Nolloth, Kakamas, Upington, Mier (Askham), Kathu, Kuruman, Danielskuil, Barkley West, Hartswater, Warrenton, Jan Kempdorp, Douglas, Hopetown, Strydenberg, Prieska, Groblershoop and Griquatown.
Product owners will be able to register for their own free page as a click-through on the www.experiencenortherncape.com website. The website will feature various tourism categories such as accommodation establishments, activities, car hire, meeting and conference facilitators, private game and nature reserves, restaurants and tour operators.
These product profiles will be available to a top market segment of close to 115 000 unique visitors to the website and will feature the owner’s e-mail address, a unique website URL and twitter account. In addition, the product owners will have access to all Northern Cape Tourism Authority social media platforms with a reach of more than 197000 people. Special events and promotions will be marketed via all available platforms.
“Due to the geographical spread of the province, which covers 360 000km², it is very difficult to reach all stakeholders and we would really like to encourage people involved in the tourism industry in the Northern Cape to meet up with us when we’re in their area. Our website is actively promoted in all our marketing material and being listed will be mutually beneficial to all parties. The product owners will be able to showcase their offerings, while the province will be able to entice visitors with the amazing diversity of our tourism portfolio,” mentions Martin.
Product owners attending the various events should bring along information about their product offerings and services as well as three high quality images. Special meetings can be arranged en-route with product owners unable to attend the workshops. Alternatively, product owners can register online at http://tourismblueprint.co.za/ncta_new/users/ and complete a profile application to be included on the content platform.
