Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie with a passion for extreme sports or just want to try a new adventure, here’s what you can do while visiting the Northern Cape.

Get a bird’s-eye view of the Northern Cape and tick this incredible experience off your bucket list. Hot Air Ballooning South Africa offers trips from the Augrabies Falls National Park all year round. If heights aren’t your thing, you can also hike along the Augrabies and marvel at the magnificent vistas. Bring sunblock, a sunhat and drinking water on your adventure.

Visit the Big Hole and go on a mine tour

The Northern Cape has a rich mining history, and one of its greatest attractions remains Kimberley’s Big Hole. The largest hand-dug excavation in the world, the Big Hole, along with its award-winning visitors' centre and “old town”, provide a vivid picture of the lives of 17th-century diamond seekers in South Africa.

Canoe down the Orange River

If you love water sports and showing off your rowing skills, then book a river-rafting spot this summer. The Orange River is the longest river in South Africa, playing an important role in irrigation, agriculture and the local economy. Be prepared to get wet and enjoy a splash (or two) in the river.

Go quad biking in the Kalahari

Ready to rev your engine and soar over the sandy dunes? Take a trip to the Kalahari desert and whizz around on four wheels. Take your loved ones or a group of friends and be prepared to get some sand between your toes (and everywhere else!)

We hope to welcome you to our province soon ... and remember to share your pictures with us!
