TRAVEL CHANNEL TO SHOOT IN THE NORTHERN CAPE

The leading international travel broadcaster Travel Channel is currently criss-crossing the Northern Cape province to shoot a South African insert for The World’s Greatest Motorcycle Rides programme.  The crew will be spending just over a month in the country and has dedicated almost two weeks to covering the Northern Cape.

The World’s Greatest Motorcycle Rides features amazing trips for the discerning biker, who wants to have motorbike adventures during the day and comfortable stays overnight.  Over the past seven years, the programme has travelled to the United States of America, Germany, Eastern Europe, Isle of Man, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and Russia.  This will be the first time in the history of the programme that they will be shooting awesome rides in South Africa.

Some of the destinations on their itinerary include the Eye of Kuruman, Witsand Nature Reserve, Augrabies Falls National Park, the South African Dried Fruits factory in Upington, the quiver tree forest near Kenhardt, Verneukpan, Loeriesfontein, Nieuwoudtville, Calvinia and Sutherland.  During their Northern Cape travels, the crew will enjoy some of the exciting activities on offer in the province such as sand boarding, fly fishing, game drives, land kiting and stargazing.

According to Sharron Lewis, CEO of the Northern Cape Tourism Authority, this is an incredible opportunity to showcase the diversity and unique tourism attractions of the Northern Cape Province.  “Motorbike adventures are becoming increasingly popular in the Northern Cape, specifically due to the geographical spread.  It is an amazing way to travel and to explore our great province and we are delighted to welcome Travel Channel to the extreme nature, extreme adventure and extreme culture of the Northern Cape.  The channel broadcasts 24 hours per day to 128 countries in 19 languages across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia Pacific region and will expose a huge global audience to the mysteries and magic of our province,” mentions Lewis.
