EXPERIENCE THE NORTHERN CAPE AT THE NAMIBIAN EXPO
The Northern Cape Province is pulling out all the stops to wow visitors to the Namibian Expo in Windhoek from 04-07 June. At the 2014 Namibian Expo, the Northern Cape will showcase not only their exceptional leisure tourism opportunities, but also their burgeoning incentive travel portfolio.
According to Dianna Martin, GM for Marketing and Promotion of the Northern Cape Tourism Authority, the Northern Cape is in a unique position that it appeals to both the leisure and business market segment. “For the past sixyears, the Northern Cape has been positioned according to its brand pillars of real nature, real adventure and real culture. We’ve recently seen that this positioning was absolutely spot on in terms of global travel trends as a 2014 trend study identified key themes such as Disconnect to reconnect, Adventures off the beaten track, Multigenerational family travel and Rewarding cultural experiences as four crucial elements that will shape the way South Africa is packaged. Due to the wide array of activities and tourism attractions in the province, the destination appeals to multiple market segments ranging from mature travellers to families, young adventurers and adrenaline junkies, while it is also becoming increasingly popular as a business travel destination,” explains Martin.
The Northern Cape has developed several self-drive routes that explore the off-the-beaten track destinations of rural villages and small town that really capture the essence of the province. Each of the five tourism regions in the province also presents unique tourism offerings, while several of the provincial nature reserves reveal the incredible natural beauty of the province. Visitors can also sample the amazing wines from Orange River Cellars while visiting the stand.
