NORTHERN CAPE SET TO MAKE AN IMPACT AT MEETINGS AFRICA

The Northern Cape Tourism Authority is set to impress the global meetings industry with its wide range of business tourism opportunities at the annual Meetings Africa to be hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre from 23-25 February 2015.

Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the 2015 edition of Meetings Africa provides the perfect business platform to present products, services and brands to senior decision-makers, buyers and influencers.

The Northern Cape will use this opportunity to showcase their burgeoning incentive travel portfolio to local and international professionals from the meetings, events and business travel industry.

According to Sharron Lewis, CEO of the Northern Cape Tourism Authority, the Northern Cape is in a unique position that it appeals to both the leisure and business market segment.  “Due to the wide array of facilities, activities and tourism attractions in the province, the destination appeals to multiple market segments and has become progressively popular as a business travel destination,” explains Lewis.

The splendid natural beauty of the province combines with the renowned hospitality of its people and value-added packages to make the Northern Cape extremely appealing to the ever-growing business tourism market.  The province offers world-class accommodation and eventing facilities in addition to convenient transport, logistics, communications and financial services to suit every requirement for meetings, conferences, events and exhibitions.  In addition, the myriad of incentive activities and value-for-luxury propositions throughout the province have proven irresistible to the business travel sector.

State-of-the-art conference and meeting facilities include the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre in Kimberley as well as an ever-increasing portfolio of unique venues for conferences, meetings and unique incentive offerings located throughout the province.  These are easily accessible by road from major national highways as well as transfers from the centrally located airports at Kimberley and Upington.

As an incentive travel destination, the Northern Cape presents an unsurpassed portfolio of extreme sports, teambuilding and incentive activities.  The vast open spaces and unbelievable natural resources available in the province make it a virtual paradise for incentive travellers with awe-inspiring activities such as river rafting on the Orange River, dune-boarding in the Kalahari desert, 4×4 adventures, quad biking, mountain biking, paragliding, abseiling, wild game experiences and cave diving available throughout the year.

Incentive tourists can also experience fly fishing, river cruises, canoeing, helicopter flips, golf, camel and donkey rides, world-class spa and wellness resorts, equestrian trails, desert explorations, birding expeditions as well as wine and brandy tours and awe-inspiring stargazing safaris.

Various tourism routes offer visitors the opportunity for life-enriching cultural engagements with indigenous tribes, which includes traditional dancing, authentic tribal cuisine, local customs and story-telling as well as evocative Khoisan rock art.

Representatives from the Business Tourism Unit from the Northern Cape Tourism Authority as well as the Northern Cape Department of Economic Development & Tourism and the Namakwa District Municipality will be available on the stand to discuss the numerous opportunities within the Northern Cape.
