Richtersveld Tours

Meet your host, Conrad Mouton who want to make the impossible, possible. 

He’ll accommodate persons who do not have 4×4 vehicles, or camping equipment, or who are intimidated by the remoteness of the Richtersveld Mountain Desert. He will gladly tour with people without camping experience, and make it as comfortable as possible.

On tour, the staff provide an all inclusive service, preparing tasty meals, putting up and preparing the comfortable tents and bedding, and they even wash the dishes. While these preparations are done by the Richtersveld Tours crew, the guests have time to relax or explore the camp areas after a full day of activities.

Tours are custom made, and planned with the client’s requirements in mind.

We tour with small, and personal groups, not exceeding 8 persons, unless they book together. Accommodation in Port Nolloth before and after the tour is included in our packages.

On tour, we focus on many different aspects of this extremely unique area. We look at the recent history, which includes copper and diamond mining. We also look at how weather patterns were affected by major geological changes over millions of years. The weather results in certain vegetation. Here we look at unique plants, often growing in micro-climates. Many of these plants are endemic to the Richtersveld. We look at medicinal and other use of plants. 

Landscapes are very unique, and absolutely breathtaking in places. It is a lot to absorb, and taking good photos to enjoy later, is a MUST!

We do tours all year around, although we recommend certain times of the year, when the weather is less extreme. It is a mountain desert and one should expect harsh conditions.

Conrad Mouton is involved with the Richtersveld Community, with other projects. They know the area very well, and can arrange special activities, involving individuals from the other villages of the Richtersveld.
