RARE FLOWER FOUND IN |AI|AIS-RICHTERSVELD TRANSFRONTIER PARK
An existing discovery was made by our botanist in |Ai|Ais-Richtersveld Transfrontier Park after searching for it for twenty one years. The Namaquanula bruce-bayeri flower is severely trembled by livestock at the moment. Being bulbs the trembling does not affect the individual plant, but their seeds are fleshy and are squashed by the trembling.
Mr. Pieter van Wyk has been searching and trying to get the plant the bloom for a number of years. He finally succeeded on 26 March 2021 and describe this wonder as: “absolute one of the biggest highlights of my life, and I am sure I can easily say this is the rarest plant to find in flower in the Richtersveld.”
To experience our very own botanical plant and Park, book online at www.sanparks.org or email [email protected] and please note that we adhere to strict Covid-19 regulations.
